Inside IBM

$25.00$110.00

Byte’s November 1983 issue had a feature article titled “Inside the IBM PC”. And so Robert Tinney painted a cover showing what really goes on inside a monochrome IBM 5151 monitor.

Had the scene existed in real life, and had a photographer taken a picture of it, this is what it might have looked like. While Mr. Tinney clearly had a disassembled monitor to work from (his printed circuit board closely matches the real board in the monitor) he took some artistic license with the color of the board and some of the plastic molding inside the monitor. My photo shows the actual interior of the monitor, and so it differs from Tinney’s painting in some respects.

Mr. Tinney has given me permission to sell prints of my Byte cover re-creations.

Currently, I offer online ordering for metal and photographic prints in 12×12 and 16×16 sizes. But I can print this image on virtually anything. If you would like to order a different size or type (framed print, fine art print, T-shirt, etc.) please contact me. Prints are mailed flat within the US and in a tube internationally. Shipping is free in the US; international shipping is $20.

Photographic prints are on paper; metal prints are on rigid aluminum. The metal prints are more expensive, but they do not require a frame and they come with mounting hardware already installed, so they are ready to hang on your wall.

If you buy two or more prints, you will get a 15% discount in your cart.

One last thing: I’m working on more Byte cover re-creations. If you’d like to be notified when they’re ready, please sign up for my mailing list.
